ATE * DRANK * SAW
Did someone say ROAD TRIP? Located just a few blocks from the Avenue of the Flags exit off Highway 101 in the Santa Barbara County town of Buellton, Industrial Way is a dream destination for foodies in search of multiple tasting experiences. Restaurants include Industrial Eats (great for dining in or grabbing something to go) and the newly opened The Kitchen at Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co. The aptly named street is also home to industrial-park buildings filled with craft distilleries (Ascendant Spirits and Brothers Spirits ) and tasting rooms ranging from the single-label Alma Rosa Winery & Vineyards to Terravant Winery Restaurant, which offers dozens of custom-crush wines via card-operated pour spouts. Kalyra Winery's Mike Brown has joined the scene with Helix, a tasting room focused on sparkling and dessert wines and 239, a fortified wine touted as a replacement for gin, vodka and/or rum in the creation of wine "cocktails." In that spirit, be sure to visit the vintage trailer parked next to the Helix tasting room: It's packed with equally vintage bar accessories, all available for purchase. A Vintage & Vino event from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 29 will include shopping, a food truck, and mimosas and 239 mixers for $8 each.
